Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 c butter, softened
1 c packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
3 1/2 c all purpose flour

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar and baking powder. Beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour.
  • 2. Force unchilled dough through a cookie press fitted with a star or flower disk onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool.

Tips:

  • Use chilled dough: Chilling the dough helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents them from spreading too much.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough can make the cookies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use a cookie press: A cookie press makes it easy to create evenly shaped cookies.
  • Chill the cookie dough logs before slicing: This helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies at a moderate temperature: Baking the cookies at a moderate temperature helps them bake evenly without burning.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps the cookies set and prevents them from breaking.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container: Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Spritz cookies are a delicious and festive treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be customized to suit your own preferences. With a little planning and effort, you can create beautiful and delicious spritz cookies that will be the hit of your next party or gathering.
