FRUIT COCKTAIL SQUARES

Fruit Cocktail Squares image

I did a search and couldn't find fruit cocktail squares like these. My mom used to make them every Christmas when I was a kid. They're very simple to make and really tasty. This recipe calls for an 8 x 8 pan, but I've made it in a 9 x 9 and just added a little more fruit cocktail. You can add a layer of whipped cream to the whole pan, or a dollop to each square when serving. They're really nice on their own too. Hope you enjoy! :)

  • For a sweeter square, use a fruit cocktail that is packed in heavy syrup. You can also add a tablespoon or two of sugar to the batter.
  • If you want a more tart square, use a fruit cocktail that is packed in light syrup or no syrup at all. You can also add a tablespoon or two of lemon juice to the batter.
  • For a fun twist, try using different types of fruit cocktail. For example, you could use a tropical fruit cocktail, a berry fruit cocktail, or a citrus fruit cocktail.
  • These squares can be served warm or cold. If you are serving them warm, let them cool for a few minutes before cutting and serving. If you are serving them cold, chill them for at least an hour before serving.
