Number Of Ingredients 8

3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt (scant)
1/3 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/3 cups mayonnaise
4 ounces danish blue cheese, crumbled

Steps:

  • In a mixer bowl, blend sour cream, mustard, pepper, salt, garlic powder, and Worcestershire for 2 minutes at low speed.
  • Add mayonnaise. Blend 1/2 minute at low speed and 2 minutes at medium speed.
  • By hand, crumble cheese into mixture. Blend at low speed no more than 4 minutes.
  • Refrigerate 24 hours before serving.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality blue cheese: The quality of the blue cheese will greatly impact the flavor of the dressing. Look for a blue cheese that is creamy and flavorful, with a sharp, tangy taste.
  • Use buttermilk: Buttermilk helps to give the dressing a creamy, tangy flavor. If you don't have buttermilk on hand, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Don't overmix the dressing: Overmixing the dressing will cause it to become thick and gloopy. Mix the dressing just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dressing before serving: Chilling the dressing allows the flavors to meld together and develop. For the best flavor, chill the dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Use the dressing on a variety of dishes: Blue cheese dressing is a versatile condiment that can be used on a variety of dishes, including salads, steaks, chicken, and fish.

Conclusion:

Blue cheese dressing is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used on a variety of dishes. With its creamy texture, tangy flavor, and sharp, pungent aroma, blue cheese dressing is sure to please even the most discerning palate. Whether you're using it as a dip for vegetables, a spread for sandwiches, or a dressing for salads, blue cheese dressing is sure to add a touch of flavor and sophistication to your meal.
