Tips:
- To achieve the perfect consistency for your bread dumplings, ensure that the bread cubes are not too dry or too wet. Slightly stale bread works best as it absorbs more liquid and results in a tender dumpling.
- If you don't have stale bread, you can toast fresh bread cubes in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes until they are slightly crispy.
- You can customize the flavor of your bread dumplings by adding various herbs, spices, or fillings. Popular options include parsley, chives, thyme, sage, garlic, onions, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese.
- For a crispy exterior, pan-fry the bread dumplings in butter until golden brown before serving. This adds an extra layer of flavor and texture.
- Bread dumplings can be served as a main course or a side dish. They pair well with stews, soups, and roasted meats.
