Tips:

  • Preparing the butterscotch sauce base over medium heat prevents burning and allows the sugar to caramelize slowly for a rich flavor.
  • Using a heavy-bottom saucepan helps distribute heat evenly and prevents hot spots that may cause the sauce to burn.
  • Adding salt and lemon juice balances the sweetness of the sauce and enhances its flavor.
  • Stirring the sauce constantly while adding the bourbon ensures it emulsifies properly and prevents curdling.
  • Straining the sauce removes any impurities or un-dissolved sugar crystals, resulting in a smooth and silky texture.
  • For a thicker sauce, reduce it over low heat until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

In conclusion, the provided recipes offer a delectable bourbon butterscotch sauce that elevates desserts and beverages with its rich, buttery, and boozy notes.
