Tips:

  • Choose the right type of butternut squash. For baking, look for firm, heavy squash with a deep orange color. Avoid squash that has blemishes or soft spots.
  • Roast the butternut squash before using it in the muffins. Roasting brings out the squash's natural sweetness and flavor. To roast the squash, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the squash in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds. Place the squash halves cut-side up on a baking sheet and rub them with olive oil. Roast the squash for 30-40 minutes, or until it is tender.
  • Use whole wheat flour or almond flour instead of white flour. This will make the muffins more nutritious and filling.
  • Add some spices to the muffins. Common spices that go well with butternut squash include cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the muffins tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the muffins at a high temperature. This will help them rise and get a golden brown crust.
  • Let the muffins cool completely before frosting them. If you frost the muffins while they are still warm, the frosting will melt.

Conclusion:

Butternut squash muffins are a delicious and healthy way to enjoy this versatile vegetable. They are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. With a few simple tips, you can make delicious and nutritious butternut squash muffins that the whole family will love.
