CALAVO AVOCADO FIESTA SALSA

Calavo Avocado Fiesta Salsa image

Got this recipe from a bag of Calavo avocados. Tried this recipe for a graduation open house and got rave reviews. The original recipe did not call for garlic, but since my family loves garlic I added it. This can be served as a dip with chips or as an accompaniment to grilled chicken or fish, with Mexican entrees or as a side-dish salad.

BAKED AVOCADO SALSA

Baked Avocado Salsa image

A great brunch dish and remember avocados are rich in antioxidants. Tomatoes contain lycopene, an antioxidant studied for its part in fighting cancer. Garlic has "immune-enhancing allium compounds (dialyl sultides) that appear to increase the activity of immune cells that fight cancer and indirectly help break down cancer causing substances." Nutrition Facts :

Tips:

  • Choose ripe avocados: The riper the avocados, the creamier and more flavorful your salsa will be.
  • Use a variety of tomatoes: Roma tomatoes are a good choice because they are firm and have a low water content, but you can also use other types of tomatoes, such as cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes.
  • Chop the ingredients evenly: This will help ensure that the salsa has a consistent texture.
  • Don't overmix the salsa: Overmixing can make the salsa watery.
  • Season the salsa to taste: Add salt, pepper, and lime juice to taste.
