Time 20m

Yield 3 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (5 ounce) milk chocolate candy bars, chopped
1 cup coarsely chopped peppermint candy cane

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a medium sized bowl cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Beat eggs in one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and peppermint extract.
  • In a separate bowl combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
  • Stir into creamed mixture until all moisture is absorbed.
  • Mix in the chocolate and the candy canes.
  • Form spoonfuls of dough into balls and place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality chocolate chips. You can use any type of chocolate chips you like, but semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips are a good choice.
  • If you don't have any candy canes, you can use crushed peppermint candies or even crushed Oreos.
  • To make the cookies extra festive, you can add a few drops of red and green food coloring to the batter.
  • Be sure to chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just set. Overbaking will make them dry and crumbly.

Conclusion:

These Candy Cane Chocolate Chunk Cookies are the perfect holiday treat. They're festive, delicious, and easy to make. So gather your ingredients and get baking!
