Steps:
- in 2 qt saucepan melt butter, add brown sugar, corn syrup and salt, cook over med heat stirring occasionally until mixture comes to a full boil 10 to 12 minutes.

- refrigerate until firm, about 10 minutes.
Tips:
- Use Granny Smith apples for the best results. They are firm and tart, which holds up well to the caramel coating.
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly before coating them with caramel. This will help the caramel adhere better.
- Use a candy thermometer to ensure that the caramel reaches the correct temperature. If the caramel is too hot, it will burn and become bitter. If it is not hot enough, it will not set properly.
- Work quickly when dipping the apples in the caramel. The caramel will start to set quickly, so you need to be efficient.
- If you want to add toppings to your caramel apples, such as nuts, sprinkles, or chopped candy, do so immediately after dipping them in the caramel. The toppings will adhere better to the wet caramel.
- Place the caramel apples on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and let them cool completely before serving. This will help the caramel to set and harden.
