My mom used to make this instead of rice crispy treats. Honestly I like these way more than the rice crispy version. For a twist, use Honey Nut Cheerios. I have set it up so that the Prep time is the the time on the stovetop and cook time is the time to let it set up in the pan. Enjoy!

Essential Cooking Advice:

  • Precise Measuring:

  • Work with Patience:
  • Take your time when making the Cheerio Squares. Do not hurry the process, or you may be left with an undesirable result.
  • Pay Attention to Ingredients:
  • Ensure that the butter used is properly softened. This will make the Cheerio Squares mixture smooth and creamy. If you use cold butter, it may not mix properly.
  • Proper Cooking:
  • Cook the Cheerio Squares mixture until it turns a light golden brown. This will ensure a gooey and flavorful center. If you cook it for too long, it may become dry and crumbly.
  • Keep it Consistent:
  • When adding melted chocolate, be sure to do so slowly and steadily while continuing to mix. This will prevent the chocolate from seizing and becoming lumpy.
  • Effective Cooling:
  • After preparation, allow the Cheerio Squares to cool entirely before cutting them. This will help them to set properly and maintain their structure. Cutting them while they are still warm may result in a messy and unappealing appearance.
