1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Ice cubes
4 cups club soda
1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (from 8 lemons)
1/2 cup superfine sugar
Garnish: fresh sour (tart) cherries

Steps:

  • Make the syrup: Simmercherries, granulated sugar, water,and lemon juice in a mediumsaucepan over medium heatuntil cherries are broken downand juicy and liquid is syrupy,about 30 minutes.
  • Strain cherries and syrupthrough a fine sieve; discardsolids. Let cool completely.
  • Make the lemonade: Fill alarge pitcher with ice. Add clubsoda, lemon juice, superfinesugar, and 1/2 cup cherry syrup;stir to combine. Garnish withfresh cherries. Divide lemonadeamong glasses.

2 oranges
1/3 cup orange juice
1 cup cherry juice (from jar of marashino cherries)

  • In a GALLON jug (empty milk or water container), fill container about 1/4 full with HOT water& add sugar.
  • (This helps sugar dissolve immediately).
  • Add remaining ingredients, squeezing juice from the lemons& oranges as well.
  • Cut 1 each lemon& orange into thin slices (use the ones you previously squeezed the juice out of) and add slices into container.
