Number Of Ingredients 6

◾1 pkg. (2 layer) yellow cake mix
◾3/4 C. brown sugar
◾3/4 C. melted butter
◾2 eggs
◾2 C. chopped dates
◾2 C. chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 13x9" pan and dust with flour; set aside. Combine cake mix and sugar in a large bowl and blend well. Add butter and eggs and mix until batter forms. By hand, stir dates and nuts into batter. Spread in prepared pan. Bake bars at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes until edges turn golden brown. Cool 10 minutes, then run knife around edges of pan to loosen sides. Cool 1 hour and then cut into bars.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality dates: The quality of your dates will greatly affect the taste of your bars. Look for dates that are plump, soft, and free of blemishes.
  • Soak your dates: Soaking your dates in hot water for 10-15 minutes will help to soften them and make them easier to blend.
  • Use a food processor: A food processor is the best tool for blending your dates and oats. It will help to create a smooth and consistent mixture.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make your bars tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the bars at a low temperature: Baking the bars at a low temperature will help to prevent them from drying out.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them: Cutting the bars too soon will make them crumbly. Let them cool completely before slicing them into bars.

Conclusion:

Chewy date bars are a delicious and healthy snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make the perfect chewy date bars every time.
