CHICKEN BROTH IN A SLOW COOKER

Chicken Broth in a Slow Cooker image

This is the recipe I use to make chicken broth for use in other recipes. Because it's done in the slow cooker, you don't need to fuss with it. I like to use breasts and wings, but any bone in pieces will make a nice broth.

Tips:

  • Use a whole chicken for a richer broth. A whole chicken provides more bones and cartilage, which release gelatin and collagen into the broth, giving it a richer flavor and texture.
  • Roast the chicken bones before making the broth. Roasting the bones adds a deep, caramelized flavor to the broth.
  • Add vegetables and herbs to the broth for extra flavor. Common additions include carrots, celery, onions, garlic, thyme, and bay leaves.
  • Let the broth simmer for at least 4 hours, or longer for a more flavorful broth. The longer the broth simmers, the more time the flavors have to develop.
  • Strain the broth before using it to remove any solids. This will give you a clear, flavorful broth.

Conclusion:

Making chicken broth in a slow cooker is an easy and convenient way to create a delicious and versatile ingredient. With a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can have a pot of flavorful broth that can be used in a variety of dishes, from soups and stews to sauces and gravies. So next time you're looking for a way to add flavor to your cooking, give slow cooker chicken broth a try. You won't be disappointed!
