LAYERED LEMON OR CHOCOLATE LUSH (AKA LUSCIOUS LEMON LAYERS)

Layered Lemon or Chocolate Lush (Aka Luscious Lemon Layers) image

If you like Lemon Meringue Pie, you should try this. It is wonderful. The original recipe called for instant lemon pudding but I prefer the cooked variety. Also excellent using chocolate pudding (instant or cooked). Any time I take this to a church dinner, there is never any left.

CHOCOLATE LUSH LAYERED DESSERT

Provided by JANIC412

Categories     Dessert

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup flour
3/4 cup walnuts or 3/4 cup pecans, finely chopped
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened to room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar
1 (12 ounce) container Cool Whip
2 boxes instant chocolate pudding mix (any favorite flavor may be used)
1 cup milk (I use a little less than 21/2 cups for a firmer filling)

Steps:

  • Mix butter and flour together then add the ground nuts ( save a few for the toping). Pat into a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Bake 20 minutes at 350:.
  • Cool.
  • In a mixing bowl mix cream cheese and powdered sugar together, stir in 1/2 of the cool whip.
  • Spread this mixture over cooled crust. Beat the pudding with milk and spread over the cream cheese. Top with the rest of the cool whip, sprinkle with the reserved nuts.
  • Refrigerate until serving time. Sometimes I drizzle melted chocolate or chocolate ice cream topping over the top, makes it look even more rich.

Tips:

  • Use a quality chocolate for the best flavor. A semisweet or bittersweet chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70% is ideal.
  • Make sure the butter and cream cheese are softened to room temperature before you start baking. This will help them to cream together smoothly and prevent lumps in the batter.
  • Don't overbeat the eggs. Overbeating can make the batter tough.
  • Use a 9-inch pie plate for this recipe. A larger pie plate will make the pie too thin.
  • Bake the pie until the center is just set. Overbaking will make the pie dry and crumbly.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the flavors to develop and the pie to set properly.

Conclusion:

Chocolate Lush Pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich chocolate flavor and creamy texture, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. Be sure to give this recipe a try the next time you're looking for a special dessert to enjoy.
