HERMITS

Dress up a cookie plate with these old-fashioned spice bars full of raisins, molasses, cinnamon, ginger and nuts. Then dip the chewy treats in coffee or hot cocoa on frosty days. It's said the cookies are called "hermits" because you can hide them out of sight, just like hermits, for days. They'll be just as good-maybe even better as the flavors blend and develop! -Jeri Tirmenstein, Apache Junction, Arizona

Tips:

  • Use old-fashioned oats. Old-fashioned oats provide a chewier texture than quick oats or instant oats.
  • Toast the oats before using. Toasting the oats in a dry skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes will bring out their flavor and make them more香喷喷.
  • Use brown sugar and granulated sugar. The combination of brown sugar and granulated sugar gives the cookies a rich, complex flavor.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing the dough will make the cookies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before baking. Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies until they are golden brown. The cookies should be golden brown around the edges and slightly soft in the center when they are done baking.

Conclusion:

Chocolate Oatmeal Hermit Cookies are a delightfully chewy and flavorful cookie that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. These cookies are sure to be a hit with your family and friends!
