Tips:
- Use a good quality ground beef for your sloppy joes. An 80/20 blend is a good option, as it will have enough fat to keep the meat moist and flavorful.
- Don't overcook the ground beef. Cook it until it is just browned through, otherwise it will become tough and dry.
- Use a variety of peppers and onions in your sloppy joes. This will give them a more complex flavor.
- Simmer the sloppy joe sauce for at least 30 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld together and develop.
- Use a hearty cornbread for your casserole. A Jiffy cornbread mix is a good option, as it is quick and easy to make.
- Top the casserole with a generous amount of shredded cheese. This will help to brown the cornbread and add a delicious cheesy flavor.
- Bake the casserole for 20-25 minutes, or until the cornbread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Conclusion:
Cornbread-Topped Sloppy Joe Casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover cornbread and sloppy joes.
