WORLDS BEST SOUTHERN RICE PUDDING

Worlds Best Southern Rice Pudding image

This makes old fashioned southern rice pudding into something decadent. When I make this, I sometimes serve it with a strawberry or raspberry sauce...helps to cut the richness while at the same time adding those calories we all need so much :p I sometimes double this & in my household of 7, it lasts one full day tops. The Southern U.S. grows and eats a LOT of rice and recipes like this are much loved down here.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. The better your ingredients, the better your rice pudding will be. Use fresh milk, cream, and eggs, and choose a high-quality rice that is specifically designed for pudding, such as Arborio or Carnaroli.
  • Cook the rice slowly and carefully. Don't rush the cooking process; otherwise, the rice will be undercooked and the pudding will be grainy. Bring the milk and cream to a simmer over medium-low heat, then add the rice and stir constantly. Reduce the heat to low and let the rice simmer for at least 30 minutes, or until it is tender and creamy.
  • Season the pudding to taste. Add sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon to taste. You can also add other spices, such as nutmeg or cardamom, if desired.
  • Let the pudding cool completely before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to thicken.
  • Serve the pudding with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include fresh berries, whipped cream, and nuts.

Conclusion:

Country rice pudding is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy texture, sweet flavor, and comforting aroma, rice pudding is the perfect dessert for any occasion. Whether you are serving it for a special occasion or just as a simple weeknight treat, rice pudding is sure to be a hit.
