Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 c self rising meal
2 eggs
1 c buttermilk
1/2 c cooking oil
2 c cracklins

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients well.
  • 2. Pour into a 10 inch iron skillet and bake at 450 for 30 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the right flour: All-purpose flour is a good choice for cracklin' bread, but you can also use bread flour or a combination of the two. Bread flour will give your bread a chewier texture.
  • Use fresh cracklins: Fresh cracklins will give your bread the best flavor. If you don't have fresh cracklins, you can use store-bought cracklins, but they won't be as flavorful.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make your bread tough. Mix the dough just until it comes together.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place: The dough should rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Bake the bread at a high temperature: Cracklin' bread should be baked at a high temperature (400 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the bread is cooked through.

Conclusion:

Cracklin' bread is a delicious and easy-to-make bread that is perfect for any occasion. With its crispy crust, chewy interior, and flavorful cracklins, cracklin' bread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. Give it a try today and see for yourself how delicious it is!
