HOT DOG MUMMIES

Hot Dog Mummies image

Made with store-bought crescent dough, these mummy dogs will be a hit at dinner or a Halloween party. The dough is very forgiving and easy to wrap, and the best part is it doesn't need to be perfect-these are ancient mummies after all.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 30m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

One 8-ounce tube crescent dough
8 bun-length hot dogs
1 slice white American cheese
Ketchup and/or mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  • Open the crescent dough tube and unroll the dough onto a work surface. Pinch together the seams to create a rectangle. Cut the dough lengthwise into 8 long strips.
  • Take 1 hot dog and 1 strip of the dough and wind the dough around the hot dog while pulling gently to stretch the dough. Crisscross the dough every so often so it looks like mummy wrappings. Near the end of the hot dog, leave a narrow strip of hot dog exposed so you can add eyes after baking. Place the wrapped dog on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with remaining dough and hot dogs. Bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
  • While hot dogs bake, use the narrow end of a wide piping tip to punch out 16 small rounds of cheese for the mummies' eyes.
  • Remove the hot dogs from oven. Using a toothpick, smear some ketchup on one side of each cheese round and "glue" it to the open area of the hot dog to create 2 eyes. Using the same toothpick, put a dab of ketchup or mustard in the center of each eye to create a pupil.

HALLOWEEN OREO® MUMMIES

Halloween Oreo® Mummies image

Turn chocolate covered Oreo® cookies into these adorable little mummy cookies that are just spooky enough for Halloween without being too scary for little ones. They are great for a Halloween party, as school Halloween treats, or as a festive "spooky month" snack.

Categories     Sandwich Cookies

Time 1h3m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 3

8 ounces white confectioners' coating, cut into pieces
16 chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreo®)
32 mini candy eyeballs

Steps:

  • Melt candy melts in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval, 1 to 3 minutes. Scoop a heaping tablespoon into a resealable plastic bag and set aside.
  • Working 1 at a time, use a butter knife to spread the candy melt over the top and around the sides of each cookie. Place on wax paper.
  • Seal the resealable plastic bag and snip off 1 of the corners with scissors. Pipe stripes over the top of the cookies in a back-and-forth pattern. It's okay if the stripes are uneven or at different angles.
  • Before the stripes dry, stick two candy eyeballs on the top of each cookie.
  • Allow the candy coating to dry and harden before serving (you can expedite the hardening process by placing the wax paper and cookies into the refrigerator for a few minutes).

Tips:

  • Choose good quality hotdogs for the mummy dogs. Look for ones that are plump and have a deep red color.
  • Use refrigerated pizza dough or make your own. If using store-bought dough, let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before using.
  • To make the mummy dogs, wrap the hotdogs in the pizza dough, leaving a small space at the top for the "face".
  • Use a sharp knife to cut strips of dough from the top of the mummy dogs. Then, wrap the strips around the mummy dogs, leaving a small space for the "eyes".
  • Bake the mummy dogs at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
  • For the spider web pizza, use a store-bought pizza crust or make your own. Spread pizza sauce over the crust and then top with mozzarella cheese.
  • Use a spoon or fork to create a spider web design on the pizza. Then, top with pepperoni, olives, and any other desired toppings.
  • Bake the spider web pizza at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • For the Halloween popcorn balls, pop some popcorn and then add it to a large bowl. Drizzle the popcorn with melted butter and then sprinkle with sugar and Halloween sprinkles.
  • Use your hands to mix the ingredients together until the popcorn is evenly coated. Then, form the popcorn into balls and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  • Refrigerate the popcorn balls for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Conclusion:

These Halloween-themed recipes are sure to be a hit at your next party. They are easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. So, get creative and have some fun in the kitchen this Halloween!
