Number Of Ingredients 7

2 quarts (approximate) vegetable oil for frying
1 cup Bisquick
2/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 egg
15 Oreo cookies
powdered sugar for dusting

Steps:

  • Fill a deep skillet or Dutch Oven 2 - 3 inches deep with vegetable oil. Heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  • While the oil is heating, whisk the Bisquick, milk, 1 teaspoon vegetable oil, and egg together.
  • Line a large plate with paper towels and set aside.
  • Working in batches of 3, drop each Oreo into the batter, and using a fork, remove the Oreo from the batter, tapping off excess, and place directly into the hot oil.
  • Fry the Oreos 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried Oreos from the oil and transfer to lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  • When the Oreos have cooled, and are no longer hot, dust with powdered sugar.

DEEP FRIED OREOS

I had these at a local county fair and just had to try to make them. They are delicious. You can substitute your favorite dry pancake mix for the Bisquick. They are best when eaten warm. If you are want to try a lighter version, use lowfat milk, canola oil, and reduced fat Oreos.

Okay, I know this is strange but it is in response to a request on the boards. Actually looks interesting and if you're going to blow calories on Oreos why not have them deep fried to boot? :)

Time 20m

Yield 54 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 bag Oreo cookies
2 cups pancake mix
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
4 teaspoons oil
plus oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • Preheat deep fryer to 375 degrees F.
  • Combine pancake mix, milk, eggs and oil.
  • Mix until there are no lumps.
  • Dip Oreos into batter, make sure both sides are covered and put the Oreos into the deep fryer.
  • You will need to watch these as the cookies tend to float- so be sure to turn them.
  • Also be careful that they don't burn- you just want them golden brown.
  • Remove the cookies and drain well.
  • The cookies are best straight out of the deep fryer!

Tips:

  • Use fresh Oreo cookies for the best results.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying the Oreos. If the oil is not hot enough, the Oreos will absorb too much oil and become greasy.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying the Oreos. If you overcrowd the pan, the Oreos will not cook evenly.
  • Fry the Oreos in batches. This will help to prevent the Oreos from sticking together.
  • Drain the Oreos on paper towels after frying to remove any excess oil.
  • Serve the Oreos immediately. They are best when they are hot and crispy.

Conclusion:

Deep-fried Oreos are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a fun snack. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make your own delicious deep-fried Oreos at home. So what are you waiting for? Give this recipe a try today!
