DESSERT CHAROSETS

Dessert Charosets image

A modernised traditional Moroccan recipe -from Australian Womens Weekly Moroccan cookbook. I thought these looked interesting and easily made gluten-free by ensuring gluten-free chocolate is used. You can leave out the chocolate all-together if you wish. Recipe uses Australian measures- 1 tablespoon = 4 teaspoons. Time stated does not include overnight refrigeration required

CHAROSETS (GRANDPA'S RECIPE)

Charosets (Grandpa's Recipe) image

This is a recipe for charosets, a traditional food on the Passover Seder Plate. Who knows how this recipe came to be--my grandfather's family was from Russia, but the ingredients have a distinctly Sephardic tone. Many who swear they hate charosets love this recipe, and it also helps counteract certain properties of matzah ;) I hope you enjoy it as much as we do--it is a great family activity to make it, as the chopping part takes forever. We always make a double recipe because everyone wants enough to take home to eat during the holiday week. I'm totally guessing on the prep time. We make an evening of it.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients whenever possible. Fresh fruits and nuts will give your charoset a brighter flavor and a more appealing texture.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different ingredients. Charoset is a versatile dish that can be made with a variety of fruits, nuts, and spices. Feel free to add your own personal touch to the recipe.
  • Make sure to chop the fruits and nuts finely. This will help them to blend together better and create a more cohesive dish.
  • Don't overcook the charoset. Charoset should be cooked until the fruits and nuts are softened, but not mushy.
  • Serve charoset at room temperature or chilled. Charoset can be served immediately after it is made, or it can be chilled for later.

Conclusion:

Charoset is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a traditional Passover dish, but it can also be served at other times of the year. With its sweet and tangy flavor, charoset is a perfect way to end a meal or to enjoy as a snack.
