8 slices stale bread
4 large eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar (firmly packed in)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup raisins (optional)
1/4 cup butter
2 cups evaporated milk (also called 'carnation' or 'condensed' milk)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Melt butter (set aside).
  • Cut the slices of bread into cubes (set aside.
  • Beat eggs and add the brown sugar, vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and evaporated milk (MIX WELL TOGETHER).
  • Lightly grease or butter aluminum pan or casserole baking dish.
  • Put bread cubes into aluminum pan and add raisins. Pour melted butter over it .

4 large eggs, room temperature
2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup sugar, divided

BUTTER SAUCE:
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Place raisins in a small bowl; pour water over. Let stand for about 10 minutes to soften; drain. In a bowl, beat eggs. Add milk, 2/3 cup sugar, vanilla and raisins. Pour half into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Butter both sides of bread; arrange in a single layer over egg mixture. Cover with remaining egg mixture. 2 cups raspberries (a few reserved for garnish)
2 cups sliced strawberries
1 tablespoon honey, plus more if desired

Steps:

  • For the bread pudding: Butter a 13-by-9-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter. Put the bread cubes in the dish.
