This spicy shrimp appetizer is a hit at every buffet I host. The fiery sauce clings to the succulent shrimp, which look so pretty arranged on a festive platter. Best of all, the shrimp can be easily prepared the day before your event.-Beth Schaefer, Sherwood, Ohio

EBI CHILI

Ebi Chili image

Ebi chili is one of those Japanese dishes which has Chinese influence. It is a shrimp or prawn dish with a sweet and spicy sauce. It's an easy recipe and a favorite bento ingredient for many kids. For this dish I've used fresh prawns, which needed to be cleaned well before cooking. In this recipe, the cooking time is only 3 minutes which makes it a perfect go-to recipe in case of kitchen emergencies.

MEXICALI SHRIMP KEBABS

MEXICALI SHRIMP KEBABS image

I got this recipe from my friend Wayne who loves spicy food after eating it at his house. Knowing his love of heat I greatly reduce the chili sauce when I made it the first time but was surprised how much spicier mine was than his. It turns out I was supposed to use the chili sauce you find on the shelf near the ketchup not the Thai Garlic Chili sauce I had on hand!! Time doesn't include marinating the shrimp
