Time 15m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

10 ripe bananas
1 (16 ounce) box vanilla wafers (sometimes i use more)
12 ounces eagle brand sweetened condensed milk
12 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
1 (6 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding (Large Size)

Steps:

  • Mix pudding according to package directions.
  • let stand while you slice the bananas. I use an egg slicer to get nice even slices, not to mention it goes so much faster.
  • add sweet condensed milk to pudding mixture and mix very well.
  • add cool whip and mix well.
  • Layer wafers, sliced bananas then pudding in a punch bowl. I usually get 3-4 layers but it depends on how thick you make them, its totally up to you.
  • Let stand overnight or at least 4-6 hours so it really gets that banana flavor.
  • You can use more or less wafers depending on your taste and i always add the top layer just before serving so that they are still crisp. You can get creative with the wafers and really make a nice presentation.

Time 2h30m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (5 ounce) package INSTANT vanilla pudding mix
3 cups cold milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (8 ounce) container frozen cool whip, thawed, divided.
4 bananas, sliced
vanilla wafer cookies

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, with a hand mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth.
  • Slowly beat in sweetened condensed milk until entire can has been mixed.
  • Add instant pudding powder and mix until smooth.
  • Slowly add milk 1/2 cup at a time until all milk has been added.
  • Now add vanilla extract and blend.
  • In a separate bowl, blend half tub of cool whip until smooth. Set other half aside.
  • Add 1 cup of pudding mixture into cool whip and mix well.
  • Pour cool whip mixture into pudding mixture and blend - this will help prevent chunks.
  • In a trifle dish or casserole dish, layer vanilla cookies, sliced bananas and pudding. Repeat layer one or two more times, depending on your dish. Top with remaining cool whip.
  • Chill in fridge for 2 hours to overnight to allow pudding to thicken up and set.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe bananas: Use ripe bananas with yellow skin and brown spots for the best flavor and texture in your banana pudding.
  • Use high-quality vanilla extract: Pure vanilla extract will give your banana pudding a richer, more authentic flavor than imitation vanilla extract.
  • Don't overbeat the pudding: Overbeating the pudding will make it tough and rubbery. Stir the pudding just until it is thick and creamy.
  • Chill the pudding before serving: Chilling the pudding allows the flavors to meld and develop, and it also makes the pudding thicker and creamier.
  • Use fresh whipped cream or Cool Whip: Fresh whipped cream or Cool Whip will add a light and fluffy texture to your banana pudding. You can also use a combination of both.
  • Garnish with banana slices or cookies: Garnish your banana pudding with banana slices, vanilla wafers, or your favorite cookies for a finishing touch.

Conclusion:

Banana pudding is a classic Southern dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy, rich pudding, layers of bananas, and sweet whipped cream, it's the perfect dessert for any occasion.
