Some of the best ways to prepare fire balls involve the use of simple ingredients that you can find in any grocery store, including chocolate, peanut butter, and butter. Fire balls can also be made using pre-made ingredients, such as crushed graham crackers or cookie crumbs, but these recipes typically involve more prep time than those that start from scratch. No matter what recipe you choose, you will need to boil the ingredients together in a sauce pan until the mixture forms a ball. Once the fire balls have cooled slightly, you can roll them in confectioners' sugar, sprinkles, or nuts before serving.

GREAT BALLS OF FIRE

Great Balls of Fire image

I ain't talking Jerry Lee Lewis here. These little appetizers can have quite a kick. The degree of "hotness" depends on the amount of Tabasco and cayenne pepper used. If you're like most of my family, you'll say "bring on the heat!" But be careful, too much can lead to increased beverage consumption.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp tabasco sauce, or to your taste
1 c margarine, softened
3/4 tsp cayenne pepper, or to your taste
1/2 lb sharp cheddar cheese, grated fine
1/4 tsp salt
1 pkg little smokies cocktail sausages

Steps:

  • 1. Thoroughly mix together all ingredients except sausage to form a dough.
  • 2. Cut each sausage into three pieces. Shape a small amount of dough around each piece of sausage and roll into a ball.
  • 3. Place sausage ball on greased baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 15-17 minutes or until dough is lightly golden.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate: The quality of the chocolate you use will have a big impact on the final product. Look for a chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the cookies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before baking: Chilling the dough will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies at a high temperature: Baking the cookies at a high temperature will help them develop a crispy exterior and a chewy interior.
  • Don't overbake the cookies: Overbaking the cookies will make them dry and crumbly. Bake them just until they are set.

Conclusion:

Fireballs are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a batch of cookies that are sure to please everyone. So next time you're looking for a sweet snack, give Fireballs a try. You won't be disappointed!
