6 cloves garlic, sliced, or to taste
1 teaspoon kosher salt, or more to taste
½ lemon, juiced
¼ cup white wine vinegar
½ cup olive oil
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1 drizzle olive oil, or to taste

GARLIC-OREGANO VINAIGRETTE

Garlic-Oregano Vinaigrette image

Provided by Connie Barbara Schaeffer

Categories     Garlic     Herb     No-Cook     Quick & Easy     Salad Dressing     Bon Appétit     California

Yield Makes 1 1/2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
5 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano, crumbled
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
Pepper

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in jar. Shake well. (Can be prepared 1 week ahead. Bring dressing to room temperature before serving.)

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh garlic and oregano will give your dip the best flavor. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but be sure to use half the amount since they are more concentrated.
  • Don't over-blend the dip: You want the dip to be smooth, but not too runny. Over-blending will make the dip lose its body and flavor.
  • Taste the dip as you go: Add more garlic, oregano, or salt and pepper to taste until you reach the desired flavor.
  • Serve the dip with a variety of dippers: Garlic oregano dip is great with pita chips, crackers, vegetable crudités, or even grilled chicken or shrimp.
  • Make the dip ahead of time: Garlic oregano dip can be made up to 2 days ahead of time. Just store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

Conclusion:

Garlic oregano dip is a delicious and versatile appetizer or snack that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Serve it with a variety of dippers and enjoy!
