Oil for deep frying
1/2 cup gluten free cornmeal
1/2 cup Bisquick™ Gluten Free mix
2 teaspoons sugar
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup milk (you can use soy, almond, etc.)
1 package (16 oz) gluten free hot dogs
Sticks, if desired

Steps:

  • In deep fat fryer or heavy saucepan, heat 3 inches oil to 375°F.
  • In medium bowl, mix cornmeal, Bisquick mix and sugar. Beat in egg and milk with whisk. Batter will be consistency of thick pancake batter. If needed, add extra Bisquick mix to thicken. Place hot dogs onto sticks, or cut into bite-size pieces. I cut my hot dogs in half to make kid-sized corn dogs. Roll hot dogs in batter until covered.
  • Fry in hot oil 3 to 5 minutes or until golden brown. You may need to flip them once. Drain on paper towel-lined plate. This recipe makes enough batter for 1 package hot dogs.

Tips for Perfect Corn Dogs:

  • Use quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will make a big difference in the final product. Look for cornmeal that is finely ground and free of additives, and use good quality hot dogs or sausages.
  • Make sure the batter is the right consistency: The batter should be thick enough to coat the hot dogs or sausages, but not too thick that it's difficult to dip. If the batter is too thick, add a little more milk or water. If it's too thin, add a little more cornmeal.
  • Don't overcrowd the fryer: When frying the corn dogs, don't overcrowd the fryer. This will cause the oil temperature to drop and the corn dogs will not cook evenly. Fry the corn dogs in batches, if necessary.
  • Cook the corn dogs until they are golden brown: The corn dogs should be cooked until they are golden brown and crispy. This will ensure that they are cooked through and have a delicious flavor.
  • Serve the corn dogs immediately: Corn dogs are best served hot and fresh. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, mustard, or ranch dressing.

Gluten-free corn dogs are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
