GRANDMA'S GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE
This is my grandma's recipe for German Chocolate Cake. This was all of us kid's favorite for birthdays. I made this for my husband on our first date on his birthday, and it's a tradition in our family now. We always use black walnuts, but you can use English walnuts. The hot water sounds weird, but that's the way my family has made it for years.

Tips:
- Use high-quality chocolate: The quality of the chocolate you use will greatly impact the flavor of your cake, so be sure to use a high-quality chocolate that you enjoy the taste of.
- Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dry cake. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
- Bake the cake at the right temperature: The ideal baking temperature for chocolate cake is 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Baking the cake at a higher temperature can cause it to dry out.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting it: This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.
- Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature: Chocolate cake can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.
