Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350*F Slice off the top of the French bread and hollow out the center, leaving about 1/2 inch along the edges. Discard internal bread, eat it, or save for another recipe. You will not need it. In a bowl blend cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Add cheese, green onions, ham, green chiles, jalapenos and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well. Spoon this mixture into hollowed out bread bowl. Place top back on bread bowl and wrap in foil. Place bread bowl on a cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour. Remove from oven, open from foil (careful it will be hot!) and remove top. Place back in oven and broil for a minute or two. Watch this closely as you do not want it to burn, just crisp the bread up a bit. Remove from oven, place on a serving platter with crackers and dive in!
HAM & WHITE CHEDDAR DIP BAKED IN A BREAD BOWL
Just a nice twist on ham and cheese. Simple to throw together and baked right in a pumpernickel bread bowl. Now, you could use rye, whole wheat, but the pumpernickel just tastes the best to me. Just a nice change for a party dip.

Steps:
- Dip -- First make sure your cream cheese is room temperature Then, in a medium bowl, add the cheddar cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, ham, chilies (green and jalapeno), scallions, onion, garlic, worcestershire, salt and pepper. Mix well and set to the side.
- Bread -- Cut off a thin slice from the top of the loaf and scoop out the bread from the inside. Cut down as far as you can go with your knife without cutting through the outside of the loaf. Then use a spoon to get the rest of the bread out. That makes for great dipping.
- Fill hollowed bread loaf with the dip; cover with reserved top slice of bread loaf and wrap the loaf in foil. In a 350 degree oven, bake 1 hour. Serve with reserved bread, crackers, bread sticks, vegetables, broccoli, even par boiled fingerlings are great with this. Endless things to dip.
- A fun easy different dip which is just that little bit unique. And the best part it is kid and adult friendly and you can make it ahead. Just don't fill the bread bowl until you are ready to bake it. If I go to someones house, I usually bake it for about 45 and then just finish it in the oven there.

Tips:
- Choose the right type of bread bowl. A round loaf of sourdough bread works well, but you can also use a hollowed-out baguette or even a muffin tin lined with bread cubes.
- Make sure the bread bowl is sturdy enough to hold the dip. If the bread bowl is too soft, it will collapse when you add the dip.
- Use a variety of cheeses in your dip. This will give the dip a more complex flavor. Some good options include cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, and Gruyère.
- Add some cooked meat to your dip. Ham, bacon, or sausage are all good options.
- Season the dip to taste. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste.
- Serve the dip warm. This will help the cheese to melt and the flavors to blend together.
Conclusion:
Ham and cheese dip in a bread bowl is a delicious and easy appetizer or snack. It's perfect for parties, potlucks, or game day gatherings. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a dish that everyone will love.
