Tips

1. Mise en Place: Prepare all ingredients and equipment before starting. Line muffin tins with cupcake liners to prevent sticking. 2. Creaming Butter and Sugar: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This step incorporates air into the mixture, resulting in a tender and moist cupcake. 3. Adding Eggs: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This helps prevent the mixture from curdling. 4. Whisking Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices in a separate bowl to ensure even distribution. 5. Folding Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until just combined to avoid overmixing. 6. Preparing Gingerbread Frosting: In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Beat until light and fluffy. 7. Baking Cupcakes: Fill prepared cupcake liners 2/3 full with the batter. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 8. Cooling Cupcakes: Allow cupcakes to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. 9. Decorating Cupcakes: Once cooled, frost the cupcakes with the prepared gingerbread frosting. Decorate with sprinkles, crushed candy canes, or gingerbread men for a festive touch.
