2 cups creme fraiche
2 cups diced strawberries
1 cup honey, for drizzling
Ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Remove bananas from the bunch. Place whole bananas with skins on a preheated grill to medium. Grill for about 7 minutes turning once until the skins begin to brown and soften.
  • Remove the bananas from the grill with tongs. Place them on a platter. Serve banana right in its skin. Using a paring knife, carefully cut a slit down the length of the banana and press it open to reveal the flesh. Top with a dollop of creme fraiche and some diced strawberries. Finish it off with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Serve warm.
  • Danny's note: This dish is a great make-your-own dessert. Just set out a tray of grilled bananas and bowls of the toppings. Guests can top assemble their own desserts.

2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 medium firm unpeeled bananas
Vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine rum, honey and cinnamon; set aside. Cut bananas in half lengthwise, leaving the peel on. , Place bananas cut side down on grill. Cover and grill over medium heat for 3 minutes. Turn and brush with honey mixture. Cover and grill until tender, 5-6 minutes. Peel bananas. Serve immediately with ice cream.

2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) unsalted butter
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons golden brown sugar
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
5 1/2-inch-thick rounds peeled cored pineapple
2 medium bananas, peeled

Steps:

  • Place butter, honey, brown sugar, and lime juice in small saucepan. Scrape in seeds from vanilla bean; add bean. Bring to simmer over medium heat, whisking until smooth. DO AHEAD Can be made 2 days ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Remove vanilla bean and rewarm sauce before using.
  • Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Brush both sides of pineapple with some sauce. Grill 1 minute per side. Transfer to plate; cut into 1/2-inch cubes and place in large bowl, leaving juices behind. Mix remaining sauce into pineapple. Cut bananas into 1/2-inch chunks; fold into pineapple mixture.

4 teaspoons honey, slightly warmed so easy to pour
1 teaspoon brown sugar
100 g vanilla ice cream (2 frozen squares)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Spoon one teaspoon of honey and sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon brown sugar over the top of each split banana piece.
  • Cook on medium barbecue plate for three minutes on each side.

  • Build a charcoal fire or preheat a gas grill.
  • Slice the bananas, in their skins, in half crosswise and then lengthwise so each banana yields 4 pieces. Set aside on a clean platter. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. 4 large bananas
60 ml dark rum (4 Tablespoons)
50 g demerara sugar (2 oz)
1 large orange, juice and zest of (grated)
2 1/2 ml ground cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
25 g butter (1 oz) or 25 g margarine (1 oz)
orange slice, to decorate
whipped cream or ice cream, for serving

Steps:

  • Cut 4 large rectangles of baking foil, peel the bananas (keeping them whole) and lay one on each piece of foil. Stab them carefully in several places with a small toothpick.
  • Mix together rum, sugar, orange juice and cinnamon, add to each parcel and place 1/4 of the butter on top of the banana in each parcel.
  • Carefully join up the long sides of the foil over the banana and fold over several times to seal, then fold up the short ends of the foil so that the liquid can not escape during cooking.
  • Place the parcels on the BBQ and grill for 15 minutes, turning them over once after 7 minutes.
  • Open the parcels carefully and transfer to serving dishes, pour over liquid that is left in the foil, decorate with orange slices and serve with whipped cream or icecream.

2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon honey
cooking spray
vanilla ice cream (optional) or pudding (optional)

Steps:

  • Peel bananas.
