Add homemade spice to your popcorn with one or more of these five flavors: Lemon-Chive, Chocolate Trail-Mix, Cinnamon-Sugar, Honey-Nut, or Nacho.

Provided by Katrina Scott

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 14

1/2 cup popcorn kernels
1 tablespoon coconut oil
2 teaspoons sea salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon coconut sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon zest
1/2 cup chopped fresh chives
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne
2 tablespoons almond butter
2 tablespoons honey (soften it in a microwave first)
2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
2 tablespoons crushed pistachios
2 tablespoons dried cranberries or raisins

Steps:

  • In a saucepan set over medium-high heat, warm a couple of popcorn kernels with the coconut oil. Put a lid on the saucepan and wait for the initial kernels to pop. This lets you know the heat is just right. When the pan is hot enough, add the remaining kernels and replace the lid on the pan.
  • Carefully shake the saucepan as the kernels pop. When they are all popped, transfer the popcorn to a bowl and toss it with the salt. Add any of the extra flavor options that you and your friends might like!

You will never go back microwave popcorn after trying this range-top recipe. It is made with oil, margarine, and seasoned salt.

Time 7m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 4

¼ cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons margarine
½ cup unpopped popcorn
½ teaspoon seasoned salt, or to taste

Steps:

  • Start by cutting a paper grocery sack in half. This will serve as a makeshift serving bowl and it will absorb excess oil.
  • In a 2 quart pot, combine the oil, margarine and popcorn. Set over high heat, and constantly shake the pan back and forth. After the first kernel of corn pops, place the lid on the pot, and continue shaking. When the popcorn starts to lift the lid up off the pan, remove it from the heat, and hold it over the paper bag until it stops popping.
  • Pour into the paper sack and season with half of the seasoned salt. Shake the paper sack to distribute the salt. Taste before adding more so you don't make it too salty. You can always add more salt.

  • Add oil and kernels to the pot: Use a 1:2 ratio of oil to popcorn kernels. This will help prevent the popcorn from burning.
  • Cover the pot: This will help trap the heat and steam, which will help the popcorn pop.
  • Shake the pot frequently: This will help distribute the heat evenly and prevent the popcorn from burning.
  • Listen for the popping to slow down: Once the popping slows down to about 1-2 seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat.
  • Pour the popcorn into a large bowl: Add your desired seasonings and mix well.
  • Enjoy your delicious popcorn!
