1 red onion, coarsely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups vegetable broth
1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes
1 ¼ cups red lentils, rinsed and drained
½ cup uncooked brown rice
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon dried celery flakes
1 teaspoon ground white pepper
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
1 ½ tablespoons balsamic vinegar

1 medium onion, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
3-1/4 cups water
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) vegetable broth
1 cup dried lentils, rinsed
1 medium carrot, shredded
1 small green pepper, finely chopped
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) no-salt-added diced tomatoes
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups cooked brown rice

  • In a Dutch oven, saute onion in oil until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Add the water, broth, lentils, carrot, green pepper, oregano, basil and, if desired, pepper flakes. 1 1/2 cups lentils, picked over and rinsed
1 cup brown rice
1 (2 lb) can tomatoes, drained,reserving juice,and chopped
3 carrots, halved lengthwise and cut crosswise into ¼ inch pieces
1 onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon crumbled dried basil
1/2 teaspoon crumbled oregano
1/4 teaspoon crumbled dried thyme
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup minced fresh parsley
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 lb smoked sausage (optional)
