Categories     Easy Side Dishes

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups water
6 oz Orange Jello Mix
3 ounce instant vanilla pudding
11 ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 of a 20 ounce can of Pineapple chunks, drained
One 8 ounce container cool whip

Steps:

  • Mix together 4 cups of water, orange jello mix, and vanilla pudding mix in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time to keep clumps from forming. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat. Pour into a heat-resistant container (I usually use a glass baking dish), cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about four hours. Remove from fridge and break up the jello into chunks. Place in a large bowl. Add in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, and whipped cream and mix around until everything is combined. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

EASY STRAWBERRY JELLO SALAD WITH COOL WHIP

Easy Strawberry Jello Salad with Cool Whip image

Provided by Natalie Clark

Categories     Jello Recipes

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 4

one 6 oz box regular (not sugar free) strawberry jello, prepared according to instructions
one 8 oz container of Cool Whip
2 cups or 1 pound fresh strawberries, diced or sliced how you prefer
optional add-ins include whipped cream for topping, strawberry jam at the bottom, or mini marshmallows to mix in

Steps:

  • Boil one cup water on stove top, and mix into bowl with jello powder in mixing bowl. Add in one cup cold water and stir. Chill jello, preferably in a shallow pan, for about 45 minutes or until it is completely cool, just starting to set. Pour the jello into a large mixing bowl. Mix the jello up vigorously, for about one minute. Using an electric mixer is great for this step. But watch out it splashes. This breaks up any jello bits that have started to set, and adds air to the mix. Then fold in the Cool Whip and then strawberries. Mix completely, but be gentle and don't deflate the mix by stirring too aggressively. If you want to add in mini marshmallows, do it now. Add them in about 1/2 cup at a time to make sure you don't overdo it. Transfer to a 9×13 pan for serving, or into individual dishes if you prefer. You can top with whipped cream and sliced strawberries if you prefer. If you want to dress up this dish, spread a spoonful of strawberry jam in the bottom of a glass dessert dish or shallow glass. Then add the salad mix. After the dish has chilled, dollop with some fresh whipped cream and a slice of strawberry.

AMISH DRY LIME GELATIN SALAD / DESSERT (JELLO)

Amish Dry Lime Gelatin Salad / Dessert (Jello) image

Found on www.AmishDining.com. A recipe seldom gets any easier than this one. Kids could make this with just a bit of supervision. My mother used to make something like this that had these same ingredients. This is much like her's, and since she was not a dessert maker, I am sure she would have opted for a simple recipe. Other flavors of gelatin work too, like Cherry and Strawberry which are perfect for Valentine's Day. NOTE: Times do not include the 2-3 hours for chilling time. Servings are approximate.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe fruit: This will ensure that your salad is flavorful and delicious. Overripe fruit can be too mushy, while unripe fruit can be too tart or bland.
  • Choose a variety of fruits: This will add color, texture, and flavor to your salad. Some popular fruits to use include strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, oranges, and pineapple.
  • Don't overcook the gelatin: Otherwise, it will become tough and rubbery. Bring the gelatin to a simmer over low heat, stirring constantly, until it is completely dissolved. Then, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly before adding it to the fruit mixture.
  • Chill the salad before serving: This will help it to set properly and become firm. Chill the salad for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving.
  • Garnish the salad with whipped cream, nuts, or berries: This will add a festive touch and make your salad even more delicious.
