Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 F. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl; stir well. Form into 1" balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet; bake 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven; cool 5 minutes before removing from pan. Serve with cocktail forks or toothpicks. Servings: 6-9 Dozen Note: May be prepared ahead and frozen uncooked (Don't do what I did and toss them all into a large zip lock bag. Its almost impossible to defrost a wad of sausage balls! LOL). To bake from frozen: thaw on baking sheet 15 minutes; bake in preheated oven 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Variation: for firmer texture, add 3 cups baking mix and 2 cups shredded cheese to the ingredients listed above.

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of sausage. Jimmy Dean offers a variety of sausage flavors, so you can choose the one that best suits your taste. For a classic flavor, try the Original Sausage. If you like a little spice, try the Hot Sausage. And if you're looking for a milder flavor, try the Sweet Sausage.
  • Use fresh ingredients. The fresher the ingredients, the better your sausage cheese balls will taste. Use fresh cheese, fresh herbs, and fresh vegetables.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing the dough will make the sausage cheese balls tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Chill the dough before frying. Chilling the dough will help the sausage cheese balls hold their shape when they are fried.
  • Fry the sausage cheese balls in hot oil. The oil should be hot enough to sizzle when the sausage cheese balls are added. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from sticking to the pan.
  • Serve the sausage cheese balls warm. Sausage cheese balls are best served warm, so make sure to eat them as soon as they are cooked.

Conclusion:

Sausage cheese balls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. They are made with simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand, and they can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a quick and tasty snack, give sausage cheese balls a try. You won't be disappointed!
