BAKED MARYLAND LUMP CRAB CAKES

Baked Maryland Lump Crab Cakes image

Having lived by the Chesapeake Bay on Kent Island, MD nearly my whole life, I was challenged to develop this authentic Maryland style crab cake about a year ago. Many people claim to have the true Maryland crab cake, but this one uses all lump meat with almost no filler added and tastes incredible! Let me know what you think!

  • Shape mixture into 12 crab cakes, about 3/4 inch thick, and place onto prepared baking sheet.

Tips:

  • For the freshest crab cakes, use jumbo lump crab meat. Avoid using claw or body meat, as it will not have as much flavor.
  • Do not overmix the crab cake mixture. Overmixing will make the crab cakes tough.
  • Form the crab cakes into 1-inch thick patties. If the crab cakes are too thick, they will not cook evenly.
  • Pan-fry the crab cakes in a hot skillet over medium heat. Do not overcrowd the skillet, or the crab cakes will not cook evenly.
  • Cook the crab cakes for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve the crab cakes immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

These jumbo lump crab cake sandwiches are the perfect way to enjoy fresh crab meat. The crab cakes are made with simple ingredients and are easy to make. They are also delicious served with your favorite dipping sauce. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy seafood meal, give these jumbo lump crab cake sandwiches a try.
