JUNE BUG (NON-ALCOHOLIC)

June Bug (Non-Alcoholic) image

This was posted in 6/2010's Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I'm in perpetual search for different things to make with my grandkids. The very name tickled them to death. A great summertime drink. Note: To make a version using alcohol just add 1/2 cup white rum. In the South a june bug is what we call an adorable pesky child...so apropos.

JUNE BUG (COCKTAIL)

Oh so good! Like sipping a bit of the tropics. I'm not much of a drinker, but this has all my favorites... midori, pineapple, coconut; a little sweet, a little sour. Yum! I've seen the banana liquor left out in some recipes, so I've listed it as optional.(F.Y.I. 1 oz. is the size of a small shot glass.)

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 ounce Midori melon liqueur
1 ounce malibu coconut rum
1/2 ounce banana liqueur (optional)
1 ounce prepared sweet-and-sour mix
2 ounces pineapple juice

Steps:

  • Mix well and pour over ice. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use frozen fruit: Frozen fruit is a great way to add flavor and nutrients to your mocktails without diluting them. It also helps to keep your drinks cold and refreshing.
  • Make your own simple syrup: Simple syrup is a key ingredient in many mocktails. It's easy to make at home and can be used to sweeten your drinks without adding any artificial flavors or preservatives.
  • Use fresh herbs and spices: Fresh herbs and spices can add a lot of flavor to your mocktails. Try adding mint, basil, rosemary, or thyme to your drinks for a unique and refreshing twist.
  • Garnish your drinks: Garnishing your mocktails can make them look more inviting and special. Try using fresh fruit, herbs, or spices to garnish your drinks.
  • Experiment with different flavors: There are endless possibilities when it comes to making mocktails. Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors and ingredients to find your perfect combination.

Conclusion:

Mocktails are a great way to enjoy a refreshing and flavorful drink without the alcohol. With a little creativity, you can make delicious mocktails that are perfect for any occasion. Whether you're looking for a healthy alternative to alcoholic drinks or you just want to enjoy a refreshing drink without the buzz, mocktails are a great option.
