2 tablespoons olive oil
2 pounds ground beef
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
3 (14 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes
1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chiles (such as RO*TEL)
1 (14 ounce) can tomato sauce

  • Stir celery, onion, and green bell pepper into ground beef and cook until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes; pour in stewed tomatoes, diced tomatoes with green chiles, tomato sauce, and water. Break apart large chunks of stewed tomatoes. Stir in chili seasoning.
  • Mix kidney beans and pinto beans into chili, season with salt and black pepper, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour. Mix vinegar into chili.

Time 50m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 1/2 lbs ground beef (twice ground)
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 (10 ounce) can onion soup or 3 tablespoons onion powder
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons cocoa powder
2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans, undrained
6 teaspoons tomato paste
15 teaspoons tomato sauce
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar
6 cups v 8 vegetable juice

Steps:

  • Brown beef inches.
  • Break meat into tiny pieces.
  • Place onion soup and half of cooked beef into a blender and process.
  • on high speed.
  • Place blended beef with unblended beef into a large saucepan.
  • Add remaining ingredients and simmer on low for 20-30 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground beef: For the best chili, use a combination of 80% lean and 20% fat ground beef. This ratio provides a good balance of flavor and texture.
  • Brown the beef thoroughly: Browning the beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat creates a flavorful base for the chili. Make sure to break up the beef as it cooks so that it browns evenly.
  • Use a variety of beans: Wendy's chili contains a combination of kidney beans, pinto beans, and black beans. This combination provides a variety of textures and flavors.
  • Season the chili well: Use a combination of chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper to season the chili. Adjust the seasonings to taste.
  • Simmer the chili for at least 30 minutes: Simmering the chili allows the flavors to meld and develop. The longer you simmer the chili, the better the flavor will be.
  • Serve the chili with your favorite toppings: Wendy's chili is traditionally served with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and diced onions. However, you can also add other toppings, such as guacamole, salsa, or jalapenos.
