I found this dessert recipe in the early '50s and since then, it has earned a place in my tried-and-true file. 6 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon sliced almonds, toasted
1 tablespoon sweetened shredded coconut, toasted

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat; cool for 10 minutes. Stir in coconut and vanilla. Cool to room temperature. , In a small bowl, beat cream until soft peaks form; fold into coconut mixture. Pour into dishes. Freeze 1 hour or overnight. Just before serving, sprinkle with almonds and coconut.

1-1/2 cups cold cooked brown rice
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt

2 medium oranges, peeled and sectioned
2 medium kiwifruit, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
Toasted sweetened shredded coconut

  • In a large heavy saucepan, combine the first 5 ingredients; bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to maintain a low simmer. Cook, uncovered, 35-45 minutes or until rice is soft and milk is almost absorbed, stirring occasionally., Remove from heat; stir in extracts. Cool slightly. 1/2 cup Kahlua
1 (10 ounce) package small marshmallows
24 chocolate wafers, crushed fine
1 cup sour cream

3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1/4 cup Kahlua
3/4 cup whipping cream, stiffly whipped

Steps:
