KID-PLEASING SLOPPY JOES

Kid-Pleasing Sloppy Joes image

This is one of my kids' favorite recipes! I could make this five times in a row and they'd never get tired of it. It's easy to make and a real quick, hot meal for those busy nights. I will add cheese on top of the sandwiches or warm the rolls in the oven. I occasionally add mild banana peppers on top for my husband since he is a fan of spicy things.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground beef. For the best flavor, use 80/20 ground beef. This means that the beef is 80% lean and 20% fat.
  • Brown the beef thoroughly. This will help to develop the flavor and keep the beef from being greasy.
  • Use a good quality tomato sauce. Look for a sauce that is thick and flavorful. You can also make your own sauce using fresh tomatoes.
  • Season the sauce to taste. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little heat.
  • Let the sloppy joes simmer. This will help to develop the flavors and make the sauce even more delicious.
  • Serve the sloppy joes on soft buns. You can also serve them on slider buns or even on a bed of rice.
