1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup quick-cooking oats
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1/2 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
TOPPING:
4 teaspoons ketchup
4 tablespoons shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the egg, oats, ketchup and onion. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Coat 4 muffin cups with cooking spray; fill three-fourths full with meat mixture. Spread ketchup over loaves. , Bake at 400° for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake until no pink remains and a thermometer reads 160°, about 5 minutes longer. Let stand for 5 minutes before removing from muffin cups.

Every time I made this, everyone just raves about how good it is. It is an easy and fast recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 egg
3/4 c milk
1 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 c quick cooking oats
1/2 c chopped onions
1 tsp salt
1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/2 tsp prepared mustard

Steps:

  • 1. In a bowl, beat the egg an milk. Stir in the cheese, oats, onion and salt. Add beef and mix well.
  • 2. Recipe says to shape into eight or nine loaves. I prefer to shape it into 4 loaves. Can freeze 2 for another meal. Placed in greased baking pan.
  • 3. Combine ketchup, mustard and brown sugar and spoon over the loaves. Yummy.
  • 4. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until no longer pink. If using a thermometer, cook to 160 degrees.
