Tips:

  • Use a good quality cheese: The type of cheese you use will greatly affect the flavor of your macaroni and cheese. Cheddar is a classic choice, but you can also use Parmesan, Gruyère, or a combination of cheeses.
  • Use a roux: A roux is a mixture of butter and flour that helps to thicken the cheese sauce. It will also help to prevent the sauce from curdling.
  • Cook the macaroni al dente: Al dente means "to the tooth" in Italian. This means that the macaroni should be cooked until it is tender, but still has a slight bite to it.
  • Add some mustard and Worcestershire sauce: Mustard and Worcestershire sauce add a nice tanginess and depth of flavor to the cheese sauce.
  • Top with bread crumbs: Bread crumbs add a nice crispy texture to the top of the macaroni and cheese.
