Tips:

  • Use high-quality beef for the best flavor. Chuck roast or stew meat are both good options.
  • Brown the beef in batches to prevent overcrowding the pan and steaming the meat.
  • Use a Dutch oven or large pot with a heavy bottom to evenly distribute the heat.
  • Don't be afraid to add more spices to taste. Paprika, cumin, and caraway seeds are all classic goulash spices, but you can also add chili powder, garlic powder, or onion powder.
  • Serve goulash over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice.

Conclusion:

Goulash is a hearty and flavorful stew that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is also a very versatile dish that can be easily customized to your own taste. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make a delicious goulash that the whole family will enjoy.
