Yield Makes 4 drinks

Number Of Ingredients 12

For glass decoration:
1 lime wedge
1/4 cup sanding (also called decorative) or granulated sugar
For batidas:
1 ripe mango, peeled and cut into chunks (1 cup)
2 cups ice cubes
1 cup whole milk
5 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 cup white rum
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/8 teaspoon salt
Garnish: 4 lime slices

Steps:

  • Decorate glasses:
  • Rub lime wedge around outer rims of 4 glasses. Spread sugar in a saucer, then dip glasses in sugar to coat rims.
  • Make batidas:
  • Blend batida ingredients in a blender until smooth and thick, about 1 minute.
  • Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe mangoes: The riper the mangoes, the sweeter and more flavorful your batida will be.
  • Use fresh coconut milk: Fresh coconut milk adds a rich, creamy flavor to the batida. If you don't have fresh coconut milk, you can use canned coconut milk, but the flavor will be less intense.
  • Add a splash of lime juice: Lime juice adds a touch of acidity and brightness to the batida. It also helps to balance out the sweetness of the mangoes.
  • Sweeten to taste: The amount of sugar you add to the batida will depend on how sweet your mangoes are. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Chill the batida before serving: Chilling the batida for at least an hour before serving allows the flavors to meld and develop.
  • Serve the batida with a garnish: A garnish of fresh mint or a lime wedge adds a pop of color and flavor to the batida.

Conclusion:

Mango batida is a refreshing and flavorful tropical drink that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. Whether you like your batida sweet, tart, or somewhere in between, there is a recipe out there for you. So next time you are looking for a delicious and refreshing drink, give mango batida a try.
