Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup shortening
1 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon anise extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup milk

Steps:

Tips:

  • Make sure your butter and eggs are at room temperature before you start baking. This will help the ingredients blend together more easily and create a smoother dough.
  • If you don't have a rolling pin, you can use a wine bottle or even a glass to roll out the dough.
  • Don't overwork the dough. Overworking will make the cookies tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies keep their shape.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just starting to brown. Overbaking will make the cookies dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before frosting them. This will help the frosting set properly.

Nana's anise cutout cookies are a delicious and festive treat that are perfect for any occasion. With their delicate anise flavor and beautiful designs, these cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
