OKLAHOMA CAKE RECIPE - (2.5/5)

Provided by Spookie

Number Of Ingredients 13

CAKE:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts
1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, in own juices
ICING:
1 stick butter at room temperature
1 (8oz) package of cream cheese at room temperature
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 with 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • CAKE In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix well. Pour batter into an un-greased 9X13" pan. Bake at 325F for 45 to 55 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside on a wire rack to cool completely. ICING In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Spread over top of cake. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped nuts on top of icing.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cookies. Chocolate wafers are the classic choice for dirt cake, but you can also use graham crackers, Oreos, or even vanilla wafers. If you're using a different type of cookie, make sure they're sturdy enough to hold up to the weight of the other ingredients.
  • Make sure the pudding is thick. The pudding is the glue that holds the dirt cake together, so it's important to make sure it's thick enough. If you're using instant pudding, follow the package directions. If you're making homemade pudding, cook it over low heat until it's thickened and bubbly.
  • Don't overmix the ingredients. When you're mixing the pudding and the crushed cookies, be careful not to overmix them. Overmixing will make the dirt cake tough and dense.
  • Chill the dirt cake before serving. Chilling the dirt cake helps it set and firm up. You can chill it for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  • Decorate the dirt cake with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings for dirt cake include gummy worms, chocolate chips, crushed Oreos, and sprinkles.

Conclusion:

Oklahoma dirt cake is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that's perfect for any occasion. With its chocolatey, pudding-y, and crumbly layers, it's sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give Oklahoma dirt cake a try. You won't be disappointed!
