ORANGE CHOCOLATE PIE
I think I took someone's chocolate pie and added orange to it. Eventually I'll add orange to just about any chocolate recipe. Can use an 8 oz. carton of Cool Whip instead of the real whipped cream. For the crust, mix 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs with 4 Tablespoons melted butter and press into a 9-inch pie plate.

CHOCOLATE ORANGE PECAN PIE
Steps:
- CRUST: Place flour & salt in large bowl. Add butter & shortening & rub with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually mix in enough water until dough forms moist clumps. Gather into ball; flatten into disk. Wrap in plastic; chill 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 425. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 14" round. Transfer to 9" glass pie dish. Trim & crimp edges. Freeze 10 minutes. Line w/foil; fill w/dried beans or pie weight. Bake until sides are set, about 12 minutes. Remove foil & beans & bake crust until pale golden, piercing w/toothpick if crust bubbles, about 7 minutes more. Transfer crust to rack. Reduce oven temp to 350. FILLING: Whisk first 7 ingredients in large bowl. Melt chocolate in top of double boiler over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Whisk chocolate into filling. Arrange pecans in bottom of pie crust. Spoon filling over. Bake until filling puffs and no longer moves in center when pie is shaken, about 30 minutes. Transfer pie to rack and cool completely.
Tips:
- Use high-quality chocolate. The chocolate is the star of this pie, so it's important to use a good quality chocolate that you enjoy the taste of. A semisweet or bittersweet chocolate will work well.
- Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make the pie tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Bake the pie in a water bath. This will help to prevent the pie from cracking.
- Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the flavors to develop and the pie to set properly.
- Serve the pie with whipped cream or ice cream. This will add a delicious creamy touch to the pie.
Conclusion:
This orange chocolate pie is a delicious and decadent dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich chocolate flavor, creamy orange filling, and flaky crust, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a special dessert, give this orange chocolate pie a try. You won't be disappointed!
