FRUIT SALAD WITH ORANGE LIQUEUR

Fruit Salad With Orange Liqueur image

I tossed this together at the last second for a fruit salad and it turned out wonderful. I did not have time to chill the salad, but it was fine at room temp. Use cold fruit so the salad does not have to be chilled before serving or bananas and apples may turn brown.

ORANGE-VANILLA LIQUEUR

Orange-Vanilla Liqueur image

Doesn't exactly taste like creamsicles, but similar--the vanilla does soften the bite of the orange somewhat in that direction. To drink in liqueur glasses or pour over ice cream, angelfood cake, etc. Makes a delightful gift. Be sure to use vanilla extract, not imitation vanilla flavoring; the same goes for the orange extract. Times listed do not include 2 weeks for the liqueur to sit and infuse.

Categories     Beverages

Time 20m

Yield 3 cups

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 large oranges
1 cup light corn syrup

1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Put the peels in a saucepan with the 1 cup water plus the corn syrups and sugar.
  • Bring to a boil and let boil, stirring constantly, 8-10 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and add the extracts.

ORANGE COFFEE LIQUEUR

Orange Coffee Liqueur image

The beautiful blending or orange and coffee is evident with just one sip of the exquisite liqueur

Provided by Lynnda Cloutier

Categories     Other Drinks

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 fifths french brandy
4 cups superfine sugar
2 oranges, rinsed and dried
80 french roast coffee beans

Steps:

  • 1. Pour half the brandy into a large wide mouthed glass jar with a lid. Stir in sugar. Puncture the oranges with a can opener or skewer and insert a coffee bean into each hole. Put the oranges into the jar; stir well. Pour in remaining brandy. Cover and store in a cool dark place for 60 days, stirring occasionally. Before serving, remove and discard the oranges. The liqueur may be kept at room temperature up to 3 months. Refrigerate it for longer storage. Makes about 6 cups.Season's Greetings

Tips:

  • Choose ripe oranges for the best flavor.
  • Use a sharp knife to zest the oranges. A dull knife will tear or bruise the fruit.
  • Zest the oranges before juicing them. This will help release the essential oils and give the liqueur a more robust flavor.
  • Use a cheesecloth-lined funnel to strain the liqueur. This will remove any pulp or seeds.
  • Store the liqueur in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and mature.

Conclusion:

Orange liqueur is a delicious and versatile spirit perfect for cocktails, desserts, and cooking. With a few simple ingredients and a little patience, you can easily make your own orange liqueur at home. So next time you're looking for a unique and flavorful spirit, give this recipe a try!
