Provided by Elise Bauer

Categories     Dinner     Kid-friendly     Quick and Easy

Time 20m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 to 2 pounds (680 to 900g) salmon fillets
3 tablespoons honey mustard (1 1/2 tablespoons honey plus 1 1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard)
3 cloves garlic, minced (about 3 teaspoons)
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (divided into 2 tablespoons and 1 tablespoon)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
Pinch of salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F
  • Make the honey-mustard glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey mustard, garlic, 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, lemon juice, dill, and salt.
  • Bake the salmon: Place in oven and bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes, until just barely cooked through (please don't overcook salmon!). It's okay if the salmon is still a little rare in the center, when you remove it from the oven, the residual heat will cook it through.

Tips:

  • Choose a high-quality salmon fillet. Look for fish that is wild-caught and sustainable. Fresh salmon should have a mild, briny smell and firm, opaque flesh.
  • Use a good-quality honey mustard sauce. You can buy a prepared sauce or make your own. If you're making your own, be sure to use a good-quality mustard and honey.
  • Don't overcook the salmon. Salmon is a delicate fish that cooks quickly. Overcooked salmon will be dry and flaky. Cook the salmon until it is just cooked through, about 10 minutes per inch of thickness.
  • Let the salmon rest before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the fish, resulting in a more moist and flavorful dish.
  • Serve the salmon with your favorite sides. Some good options include roasted vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Conclusion:

Oven-roasted salmon with honey mustard sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make meal. It's perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion. The salmon is cooked to perfection and the honey mustard sauce is tangy and flavorful. This dish is sure to please everyone at your table.
