CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISPIE TREATS
Steps:
- 1. Measure out 6 cups of the Cocoa Krispies into a large bowl and set aside. Keep the last half cup ready to add when the main marshmallow mess is poured in. 2. Melt the butter in a saucepan (mine's 2 Qt. and seems to work fine). 3. Reduce heat to low and add the marshmallows, stirring occasionally. 4. When the mallows are about halfway melted, add the chocolate chips. Keep stirring. 5. When the mallows are nearly-melted tiny little blobs, add the peanut butter and yes, keep stirring. 6. Once, the gooey mixture is one solid color, remove it from the heat and pour over the large bowl of cereal. I find it helps to have an assistant to stir the cereal while you pour, making sure the cereal gets fully coated before it cools and congeals. Add the remaining half cup of cereal to any parts of the mix that are a little thin on cereal. 7. Mush the whole thing into a 9x13 pan and let it cool for at least 20 minutes. It's delicious warm, but won't keep its shape well.
PEANUT BUTTER, BANANA, AND BACON DOG TREATS
Steps:
- 1. In a medium bowl, mash the banana until smooth. Add the egg and peanut butter and stir until well combined. Stir in 1 tablespoon of the honey, along with the flax seeds, bacon, and oats. Add the flour and stir until evenly combined (the dough will be very thick). Wrap the dough tightly in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 1 hour. 2. Remove dough from the refrigerator and line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. 3. Position a rack in the upper third of the oven and a second rack in the lower third then preheat the to 350°F. 4. On a lightly floured surface with a lightly floured rolling pin, roll out the dough to 1/3 inch thickness. Using a cookie cutter, cut out as many biscuits as possible and transfer to the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 1/2 inch between treats. 5. Gather any scraps and kneed them until combined. Reroll the dough and cut out more treats. Repeat until you run out of dough. 6. In a small bowl, whisk the remaining 1 teaspoon of honey with 1 tablespoon of water until the honey is dissolved. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the tops of the treats with the honey mixture. 7. Bake the treats, switching them between the upper and lower racks about halfway through baking, until they are golden brown, about 20 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
Tips:
- Use creamy peanut butter: This will make your treats smooth and creamy. If you only have chunky peanut butter, you can blend it until it's smooth.
- Chill the dough before baking: This will help the treats hold their shape. If you're short on time, you can skip this step, but your treats may be a little more crumbly.
- Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing will make the treats tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Bake the treats until they're just set: Overbaking will make them dry and crumbly. Insert a toothpick into the center of a treat. If it comes out clean, the treats are done.
- Let the treats cool completely before storing them: This will help them keep their shape.
Conclusion:
Peanut butter treats are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or dessert. They're perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a quick snack at home. With so many different variations to choose from, you're sure to find a recipe that you'll love. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, reach for a peanut butter treat.
